Jeff W. Zeck
Certified Ontario Hunter Education Program Instructor/Examiner
At the age of 15, I became interested in shooting sports disciplines in target shooting, skeet and trap. I became a member of the York County Bowmen archery club for many years and served on the board directors in various positions. Once I got out in the field, I knew hunting would become a large part of my passion in the outdoors. I try to get out as often as I can and want to share that love of the outdoors with others. The firearms training program, firearm ownership, hunting regulations and the Ontario Hunter Safety Education Course have gone through numerous changes. They will continue to change but the core values will always remain. Through teaching, I hope to instill the respect that our outdoors deserves as we lose more and more opportunities to development. I feel we must take care of our natural resources, which helped shape the foundations of this great country so our children’s children can enjoy what we have today, and in the future.

Canadian Firearms Safety Course
The Canadian Firearms Safety Course (CFSC) was developed in partnership with the provinces and territories, national organizations with an ongoing interest in firearms safety, and many firearms and hunter education course instructors from across Canada. This course was developed to meet the mandatory requirements of section 7 of the Firearms Act. The legislation stipulates that individuals wishing to acquire non-restricted firearms must take the CFSC and pass the tests.
Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety Course
In accordance with the Firearms Act, a new firearms safety course focusing on restricted firearms (primarily handguns) was developed and implemented on February 1, 1999. The legislation stipulates that individuals wishing to acquire restricted and/or prohibited firearms must take the Canadian Firearms Safety Course (CFSC) and the Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety Course (CRFSC) and pass the tests.
